For two days running now, customers of FirstBank have continued to get the rude shock of their lives as they got to the various branches of the bank and discovered that service had been shut down.
Throughout Friday, 26 February, while customers who wanted to use the ATM couldn’t access their cash as the machine permanently displayed “Out of service, please visit one the other First Bank ATMs, many others who got into the banking halls were also disappointed as the tellers were telling them they could not access their accounts as a result of the no service.
While the same experience occurred throughout Friday, as many stayed for hours hoping that the service would be restored, hopes of customers getting access to their money on Saturday, as they believed the problem ought to have been rectified, were dashed as the services were not restored.
When DailyBells visited many of the branches of the bank, virtually all the customers were wearing long faces as they lament the non being able to get access to their money.
At Iju Fagba branch, a customer, simply identified as Mukaila said he was about to lose his wife who was rushed to the hospital yesterday because the doctors said they won’t attend to the wife unless he deposited some money.
“What would I do now oo. I don’t know what to do or where to run to.”
Another customer, Mike told DailyBells Nigeria that the situation has affected the payment of his children school fees as the kids might not be able to go back to their schools on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the aggrieved customers said the situation has kept on repeating itself for some months back especially every month end, as the bank has yet deem it fit to either apologize or offer reasons for this repeated occurrences.
Many believe that the bank had to resort to doing this every month end as a result of cash crunch affecting the bank in recent time.
