Lawyer’s wife, 3 others charged for hawking gonorrhea, Syphillis drugs

A wife of a legal practitioner, Sandra Nwadinpa and three others have been charged before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, south west Nigeria for drug hawking.

Meanwhile, the court has adjourned the criminal charges filled against them till 5th December, 2016.

In the charge marked FHC/L/176C/16, other accused persons are Oga Odaleje Joseph,Stanley Ogbuji(at large) and a company De-Katoka(W.A) LTD.

In the said three-count criminal charge signed by Mrs Okoli Chinyere on behalf of the Attorney General of the Federation, it was alleged that Sandra Nwadinkpa Aniakor,Oga Odaleye Joseph, Stanley Ogbuji (at large) and De-Katoka (WA), all of Km 24,Badagry Expressway,Celenaica Bus-stop Mebamu, Lagos on or about 3rd of November,2015 along Alaba International Market Road,Ojo were found hawking drugs to wit: Katoka Mixtures in a vehicle with registration number KTU 559 XC and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 2(1) (a) of the counterfeit and Fake Drugs and unwholesome Processed Foods ( miscellaneous Provision) Act Cap C 34 Laws of the Federation 2004 and punishable under section 3 (b) of the same Act.

All the accused persons same time and place,were alleged to have displayed for the purpose of sale the Katoka mixtures in the aforementioned vehicle.

In the third count,Sandra Nwadinpa Aniakor,Oga Odaleye Joseph, Stanley Ogbuji (at large) and De-Katoka (WA) ltd all of km 24,Badagry Expressway,Celenaica Bus-Stop Mebamu,Lagos on or about the 3rd of November,2015 along Alaba International Market Road,Ojo Lagos, were alleged to have advertised to the general public that Katoka mixtures can cure infertility, gonorrhea, Syphillis and other transmitted diseases as well as feverish condition and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 2(a) and (b) of the food and drugs Act,Cap F 33 Laws of the Federation 2004 and punishable under section 17 (1) and (2) of the same Act.

Meanwhile, the defense counsel, Barrister Onyebuchi Aniakor has filed an application before the court urging the court to quash the criminal charge filed against the accused persons and discharge all of them.
