Few weeks after a two-storey building collapsed at Lekki in Lagos, Nigeria, where over 30 people were killed, another building has collapsed this morning at Mile 12 leaving a 47 year old woman dead.
According to reports, the 47 year old woman whose name is yet to be identified reportedly died after sustaining injury in the collapsed building at 9 Alli close, Mile 12, Lagos.
The victim was said to have died on her way to the hospital, as no other casualty was recorded.
The occupant of the 16 rooms apartment have been evacuated and the building condoned off for safety.
The General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA) Mr Michael Akindele who confirmed the incident said the agency received a distress call at about 7:50 am on Saturday about the collapsed building.
He said investigation conducted by the agency at the scene revealed that the cause of the incident was as a result of poor maintenance of the building.
Akindele explained that the incident was a partial collapse which affected the balcony of the said building with one female victim dead.
