Dasukigate: Ex-President Jonathan’s spokesman, Reuben Abati joins Obanikoro, Fani-Kayode in EFCC custody

Dr. Reuben Abati, the former spokesman to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Abati was arrested on Monday in Abuja, according to various news reports.

He is now being interrogated over allegation of collecting about N100 million from the former National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Col. Sambo Dasuki, part of the $2.1 billion meant for the purchase of arms for the Nigerian Army to battle Boko Haram insurgents.

The EFCC has not confirmed the arrest. Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren did not pick his phone when called Monday night. He did not also respond to out text message.

Many other prominent Nigerians, including former minister of state for defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, have been arrested for partaking in the sharing of the money.


Also being detained in connection with the Dasukigate is Femi Fani-Kayode

Some media moguls were also among the people arrested.

One of the arrested media men was Chief Raymond Dokpesi, the founder of Daar Communications, the owner of Africa Independent Television and Ray power radio.

He was alleged to have collected N2.2billion.
