The Peoples Democratic Party governorship hopeful in Ondo State, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) has again appealed to protesters across the state to exercise patience and display restraint in the light of Thursday’s listing of the name of Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim as the governorship candidate of the party.

Jegede, in a statement signed by his media spokesman, Mr. Kayode Fasua, noted that the widespread protests across the state over the issue were instantaneous and could not have been sponsored by him or any of his supporters.

He appealed to all his supporters across the state to be law-abiding and wait for the outcome of his appeal at a higher court.

According to him, “violent protests, attacks and the destruction of public utilities cannot do us any good or determine a case before the court.”

He further appealed, saying, “Let us wait patiently as I am sure justice will prevail in this matter. We cannot afford any violence or bloodshed in our dear state. We should learn from the ugly experience of the past and wait on God, with the full belief that justice will prevail.

“The widespread protests we saw today were instantaneous across the state and could not have been sponsored by us as being insinuated in some quarters.

“I salute the security agents for rising up to the occasion and I also call on all our people to be patient, as we are already in the Court of Appeal. Justice, I know, will prevail,” he said.

On Friday, protesters across all the local governments in the state took to the streets to express their disapproval of Jimoh Ibrahim as PDP governorship candidate.
