Calls on Nigerians to rise up and defend themselves
Elder Stateman and former Defence Minister in the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, Gen Theophilus Danjuma on Saturday accused the Nigerian Armed Forces of colluding with Fulani herdsmen to carry out ethnic cleansing of Nigerians.
In a speech which surprised his audience who applauded him, Gen Danjuma admonished Nigerians to rise up and defend themselves or risk dying one by one. He said what is happening in Nigeria presently may lead to a situation that is worse than what happened in Somalia if care is not taken.
Gen Dajuma spoke on Saturday at the convocation of the Taraba State University.
He said the attacks of people by Fulani herdsmen is nothing but an agenda of Fulani to wipe other races out.
He called it ethnic cleansing.
“We must rise up and resist this ethnic cleansing”, he said.
Gen Danjuma who once served the country as the Chief of Army Staff did not spare the Armed Forces as he accused them aiding the armed herdsmen.
“The Armed Forces are not neutral in all these. They collude with these armed bandits to kill Nigerians. They facilitate their movements. They cover them. If you are depending on the Armed Forces to stop the killings, you will all die one by one”.
He therefore called on Nigerians to rise up and defend themselves.
“This ethnic cleansing must stop in Taraba and all other states of Nigeria, otherwise, what happened in Somalia will be a child’s play”, he said further.
“I ask everyone of you to be alert. I ask you to defend yourself, your territory, your state, and your country. You have nowhere else to go. May God bless our country”, Gen Danjuma concluded.
